So there’s a new thing happening in the medical world, and I’m not really sure what to think about it. Maybe it’s not THAT new, and maybe you’ve heard of it. But here’s the thing – it’s kind of like a face-lift, but for your vagina.

How do I put this delicately…? I guess I can’t do better than this: the procedure is designed to help rejuvenate the vagina. Ahem.

thermiva_reclaim_restore_reviveAt first glance, you find yourself feeling a little judgy – after all, who would have vanity procedures done to her girly parts? Doesn’t that feel a bit…shallow?

I sorta did at first. But that was before I learned that the procedure is actually something that helps all kinds of women with all kinds of issues, including incontinence, vaginal tightening and improving sensation and function.

So the procedure turns out to be less of a procedure and more of an energy medicine, from what I understand.

“ThermiVa is a new form of energy medicine that uses radio frequency heat therapy to promote collagen synthesis, resulting in shrinkage and tightening of female tissues,” according to the website. The process is “non-surgical, non-invasive, and pain-free and is smart alternative to more invasive procedures.”

What does that mean, exactly?

It’s “an in-office, non-surgical procedure that uses radio frequency energy to gently heat tissue through an “S” shaped hand piece. Heat and energy shrinks skin and tightens external and internal vulvovaginal tissue. The hand piece features disposable applicator with gentle curves to provide comfort. No downtime is necessary. The new tissue will be tighter and younger looking due to new collagen growth and thicker skin resulting from the application of radio frequency to the area.”

From what I’ve learned, this is an ideal treatment for “women who wish to tighten and tone their genital tissues to improve sexual activity and personal comfort.”

People who opt for this treatment:

  • Are experiencing vaginal laxity after pregnancy and childbirth
  • Wish to reduce vaginal dryness and loss of vaginal tone after menopause
  • Want to improve urinary stress incontinence
  • Any woman who would like a more youthful and refreshed appearance.
  • The best way to find out if you could benefit from ThermiVa is to schedule a complimentary consultation with Dr. Shieh.

So what do you think about this option? Would you do it? Share your thoughts in the comments and let me know what you think!
