melinaSomeone asked me at work, “Melina, how do you run every day?”

I smiled and said to him, “By putting one foot in front of the other.”

He said, “Don’t you get tired?”

“Yes,” I told him.

“Don’t you get cramps?”

“Yes.”

“Isn’t it HOT?”

“Yes.”

“I don’t like dripping in sweat–don’t you sweat a lot?” he asked.

“Yes.”

“You still run through all that?”

“Yes.”

I was laughing at this point, he was so funny.

He laughed back at me awkwardly and asked, “why?”

I told him it is because I want IT more than anything else.

More than all the pain, hurt, cramps, sweat, rain, heat, and not being able to breathe. I push through and keep putting one foot in front of the other because what I want isn’t going to happen unless I keep going.

The only person I am letting down by NOT exercising every day and giving it my ALL is myself.

“What is ‘IT’– that thing you want so much that makes you crazy enough to run every day like that?” he asked.

“I can’t tell you but when you find your “IT” reason to lose weight then you will have the same motivation as me,” I told him.

He now wants to workout with me. He says I motivate people to have better health. Makes me feel great.
