Dr. Oz Show Experts on the HCG Diet

By Sheri L. Emma, Dr. Oz Show Website

By now you’ve probably heard about it: the HCG Diet, an extreme diet that involves injections of HCG (human chorionic gonadotropin). HCG is the hormone women make when they are pregnant. Previously, the HCG Diet was defined by a 500-calorie diet paired with daily injections of HCG.

This diet is associated with dramatic weight loss, up to a pound a day. But the problem, up until now, was that no doctor could explain how it worked, and critics claimed the caloric restrictions are responsible for the weight loss and not the HCG hormone.

Critics of the diet have also maintained that the weight lost can’t be kept off. The HCG Diet has also had some odd rules. For example, it required the consumption of only one vegetable per meal, prohibited the use of oil, body lotions and hygiene products, and limited use of the HCG hormone to odd cycles of 23 and 46 days. The Diet also did not allow exercise.

In addition, there had been no published guidelines on how to dose the HCG hormone; as a result, most providers of this diet are generally using random dosing of the prescription hormone. This was called the Simeons Protocol, and, in my opinion, it was wrong.

After years of research and treating thousands of patients, I am setting the record straight. The Simeons Protocol should no longer be in practice by any physician. My protocol is supported by numerous studies and clinical trials, the latest of which was presented to weight loss physicians at the October 2012 meeting of the American Society of Bariatric Physicians, and can be read at DrEmmasDiet.com. My dosing method is customized, with much higher doses than previously published, and I’ve created specific guidelines for patients based on age and gender. I offer diets ranging from 500-1500 calories, and the diet should be chosen based on the patient and their history. I also encourage the proper types of exercise.

Career Bliss: 5 Ways to Get Focused and Get Things Done

“Success demands singleness of purpose.” ~Vincent Lombardi

Some days I’m totally on top of things, focused and centered and productive. I love those days–I get things done and when the day is over, I feel accomplished and positive.

Then there are the days when I’m scattered and randomly jumping from task to task without any real focus.

Those days are less enjoyable, and even though I “get a lot done,” I don’t actually feel like I’ve accomplished much–and I often find myself feeling guilty. That doesn’t feel good.

It feels good to get things done, to be intentionally focused on not only what needs to be done, but also on what I want to do.

It feels good to accomplish what I set out to accomplish, to meet my daily goals–which always lead toward the more long-term goals. And feeling good and accomplishing my goals is a sure-fire way to bring more positive things into my life.

So how do we find focus when we have one of those scattered days?

One Step at a Timer

I don’t know about you, but I tend to multi-task nearly all the time. However, on those scattered days, I feel the need to stop and focus on only one task at a time. Maybe that’s because when I’m feeling scattered, I’m far more easily distracted.

I find that setting a timer for a specific amount of time and forcing myself to focus on a single task makes a big difference. Even five minutes can be enough to shake off that scattered feeling and get back into a focused mindset.

Clear the Clutter to Clear Your Mind

fengshuioffice2The feeling of being scattered goes right along with a cluttered work area or home. When I’m feeling that way, sometimes just clearing off my desk or tidying up around the house is enough to help me change my mind.

Insider tip: There’s a free online class that can help. You can learn to use feng shui principles to increase your productivity and peace of mind when you sign up for Feng Shui Fest–it’s FREE!)

When our living and working spaces our cluttered, we’re bound to feel mentally cluttered too. Even just clearing off a single table top or shining your kitchen sink can make all the difference in the world.

Just Do It Already

A lot of times, when I’m feeling unfocused, I procrastinate or distract myself with busy work. Then, I find myself staying up late into the night to meet my deadlines or finish up my projects. (I’ll admit, sometimes the late nights are a direct result of just plain being busy–but other times, they could be avoided!)

So, when I feel myself procrastinating, just forcing myself to BEGIN doing the task is enough to get me back on track. Even if I’m not feeling it when I get started, I eventually find my groove and keep on keeping on.

Take a Break

Ok, I realize this sounds counter-intuitive, but hear me out. If you’re anything like me, sometimes the fact that you have things to do can cause you to become paralyzed, especially when you’re feeling overwhelmed. So, while taking a break may seem like it would slow your productivity, the opposite is actually true–at least for me.

If I find myself feeling frustrated or unfocused, a fifteen minute break away from my desk can sometimes be all I need to develop a fresh perspective. Sometimes it’s just doing a mindless activity like watching a little TV or walking around the block, and other times it’s talking with one of my family member or friends. And sometimes, it’s just about being still and quiet and not thinking about anything at all.

The point is that if I take a quick break, I come back refreshed and ready to get things done–while if I skip the break, I might waste even more time by remaining unfocused.

Plan Ahead

This might seem obvious. But if you’re anything like me, planning may not come naturally to you. What I find effective is to sit down at the end of my work day and look at what I’ve got going on for the next day. I’ll check my calendar for appointments, check my list of assignments and tasks and then I set up a priority list for the next day.

I decide what MUST be done, then what I would like to get done. I set up a really basic plan of attack for the next day, and then I make a point of sticking to it as much as possible. Of course, things come up and priorities change–but having a basic plan for the day can still mean the difference between being focused and being scattered. You might be surprised how significantly a simple plan can change your perspective and increase your focus.

So, how about you? What do you do to get back on track when you find yourself losing focus or feeling scattered? Tell me in the comments!

How can moving your sofa make you more money?
Chinese emperors had access to sacred knowledge about how surroundings affect energy—for better or for worse.
They knew how to attract positive energy and how to deflect negative energy. For thousands of years they used it for long life, to control their empire, and to build supreme wealth.
They called this knowledge Feng Shui, and to them it was mystical. But today Feng Shui can be explained through a field of science called quantum physics.
By making specific changes in your environment, you make changes in the energy that surrounds you, and this can have a massive impact on your life. Here’s what Marie Diamond’s students have experienced:
“Promoted to Senior Vice President with a 25% increase in pay.”
“Immediately we became lovey-dovey again.”
“My net worth doubled in nine months.”
“Within a day the first call for an audition came in.”
“An unexpected gift of $50,000 came.”
“Immediately the pain subsided and has now gone away completely.”
“In just ten months my personal income increased by more than 1100%. I did nothing differently but implement Diamond Feng Shui techniques.”

5 Feng Shui Tips To Improve Productivity In Your Workplace

By Mike Schnippering

fengshuioffice2There is no way that you can go happily to a job every day if you don’t feel good about yourself, are overworked, under-appreciated, and disorganized.

But you can begin to increase the peace, productivity and overall happiness in nearly any work environment by adding feng shui to your workplace, at least on some level.

Learn to use feng shui principles to increaseyour productivity and peace of mind in Feng Shui Fest, a free online event

When you can learn to balance the energy in your work environment, your own energy will be in harmony. When that happens, all of the things you want in life will be on their way to you–it’s a simple case of cause and effect, the law of attraction in action.

When your energy is in harmony, you feel good. That’s when you’ll start naturally draw people and opportunities to you that reflect this balance and create the kinds of things you want in your life.

Your environment is so important–it even indirectly determines the type of relationships, finances, career opportunities you attract, affecting your overall quality of life.

Five feng shui tips to improve productivity in your workplace

feng-shui-desk-baguaFirst, if you are not comfortable in your designated work space and have a disorganized mess piled around you, you are going to start your day on a negative note, and waste your valuable time searching for things.

Keep the things you use all the time close at hand, and have proper storage for those items that you use now and then.

Good lighting and a comfortable chair will help, too. Let coworkers know that this is your work space and that you need to eliminate distractions.

Those interruptions keep you from achieving, which in turn frustrates you, increases your work load, and adds to your stress.

Second, you need to set definite goals. If you know what you want to achieve, you will get there much faster.

Is it power you want? Whatever your motivation is, it is a reminder of why you come to work each day.

fengshuioffice

Don’t hang negative labels around your neck…nobody is “just” a secretary, or “just” a salesman! Be proud of what you are doing and you will always do the best job possible.

Think about the positives; don’t list the negatives. If you had a cranky customer that you managed to soothe and make the sale, give yourself kudos instead of giving him black marks.

Third on the list of tips is to stop procrastinating. Every time you choose to do the least you possibly can in a day, it leaves you with more than you possibly can do the next day.

Granted, there are times when it is hard to concentrate, or you are tired, achy, and unmotivated. Taking regular breaks will help to ease the tedium, a jolt of caffeine will wake you up, or a cup of herbal tea will soothe you.

Don’t snack on too much. You’ll want to take a nap!

feng shui1Fourth on the list is to do relieve your stress level. Tips 1, 2, and 3 will help, but sometimes you need more help.

Meditation, deep breathing, and yoga are really good ways to relax the body and clear the mind.

Delegating authority will also ease stress. Let others do some of the routine tasks in order to clear your mind and time for the problems.

Tip number five is simple. The last thing you should do before you go home is to plan the next day’s activities.

It makes it easier for you to start up quickly when you get there in the morning. Prioritize your tasks.

These five feng shui tips to improve productivity in your workplace are going to help you feel better about yourself and your job, ease your stress, and make you glad to be going to work!
