I am fortunate to come across quite a few of these game-changing people, and the desire to help (and keep up with them!) is what drives me.'” ~Richard Branson

Ok, people. Here it is. As a blogger, I’m a freaking pro. I’ve been professionally blogging (and personally blogging) since 2005–heck, I own a company that can thank blogging for a good majority of business–whether directly or indirectly.

So what I’m saying is, I know blogging (I’ve even been known to blog about blogging, no kidding). But when it comes to fashion blogging, specifically, I’m kind of a newbie. Not going to lie. While I’ve always loved fashion and style, I only recently began to dabble in the fashion blogging world–so be gentle with me, huh?

Anyhoo, in case you wondered, I am the kind of person who, when she’s interested in something, does her research, and who sort of teaches herself the ropes from the inside out. Part of my little self-led fashion-bl0gging study includes following amazing style bloggers with huge followings. Why? Because they’re doing something right–but not because I want to imitate them–I know who I am and I’m totally ok with it. It’s because I am inspired by them.

That’s why I’m starting this new feature–and, bonus for you, it’ll introduce you to some of the most amazing fashion bloggers on the ‘net. I’m calling the series “Fashion Blogger Crush,” but for the record, there are no sexual undertones intended–I just get bloggy crushes on really great bloggers sometimes. Kind of like how a musician might get a musical crush on another artist if they dig their style, for example.

But I digress. Please allow me to introduce my very first FBC.

“I find inspiration in art, nature, culture, architecture, food, people, and music. And for me, fashion is a compilation of all that. Fashion is a vehicle for me to play with shapes and colors in order to uncover my personal style.” ~Wendy Nguyen

screenshot of wendyI’m starting this series with a blogger who was introduced to me by Jane Cuddehe, the owner and creative mind behind Scialle Fine Shawls. This blogger happens to be Jane’s very favorite–her own fashion crush, as it were.

Naturally, I was curious, and once I caught a glimpse of Wendy’s gorgeous looks (both personal and styled) and her simple but fabulous blog (not to mention her crazy-huge following), I was in love. And her friendly, down-to-earth writing style is just the bow on the already perfect package Wendy’s Lookbook offers.

I wrote about her today over at Examiner.com because I discovered a really useful YouTube video she created called 25 Ways to Wear a Scarf. Here’s an excerpt.

If you love fashion, you’ve probably heard of Wendy Nguyen, the well-known blogger behind Wendy’s Lookbook.

After a lot of brainstorming and story-boarding, Wendy and her beau “Mystery Man” released a new video that could change your whole fashion life–it’s called 25 Ways to Wear a Scarf.

It’s such a classic look that it is nearly timeless.

“The Infinity vs. DIY Infinity
The difference is very subtle – the first fold. The Infinity is folded along the diagonal while the DIY Infinity is folded in half, horizontally. The Infinity starts off as a triangle, whereas the DIY Infinity begins as a rectangle. It seems like a trivial difference, but due to the shape, the Infinity fold works best with square scarves whereas the DIY version can be pulled off on thicker longer scarves. Also, because of the different starting shapes, the way the scarves drape are also slightly different. I wanted to include both in case people had trouble with the Infinity fold on their scarves, but due to the speed of the video, the first step was a bit harder to convey

There are actually a lot of ways in which you can wear scarves and shawls. You need not stick to the usual neckpiece or bandana anymore as with these tricks, your scarf can become your favorite accessory in no time at all.” ~Wendy Nguyen

And check this out–here are a few more fun ways to wear a scarf, courtesy of fashionista and Scialle Fine Shawls owner Jane Cuddehe.

So am I alone in my love for Wendy? Absolutely not. In addition to Jane, Wendy’s got LITERALLY hundreds of thousands of fans.

Hats off to you, Wendy! Keep up the amazing work. We love your style!

Who else loves Wendy? Let me hear it!  And what other fashion bloggers do you love? Maybe I’ll feature one in an upcoming post! Share your thoughts, feelings and experiences in the comments section, below! And don’t forget those blog links.

One way to add a touch of elegance to your wardrobe is with designer luxury handbags. designer handbag styles are exquisite and the fabrics are sumptuous. The various types of design work allow you to express your personality and taste in fashion through your purse.

Whether you shop online or at a local retailer, you’ll notice there are many shapes and styles of designer luxury handbags. The handbags may look similar to other types of handbags in shape and size, but often reflect amazing quality with the use of real leather materials or even exotic animal leathers that aren’t found just anywhere. You might see designer purses made with real crocodile skin, python snake skin, or even ostrich skin! These exotic purses often have exclusive designs that will turn many heads as you voyage on an evening out or if you carry the purse as you do everyday tasks.

Styles to choose from include classical, evening, office or workplace, fashion, and elegant. There are shoulder bags, wide handbags, tote bags, clutches, and professional bags for men or women. No matter what type or size you’re looking for, the quality and look and feel of designer luxury handbags will cause you to crave more and more styles and colors to blend with every outfit and occasion.

Prices for designer luxury handbags made with real skin leather often range from $600 to $1200. To save money on crocodile skin handbags, look for “realized” leather that has been created using the ligator process, which blends natural fibers of crocodile to create a skin similar to real crocodile skin while saving you dollars on the final price tag.

Look for Handmade Quality

Even with the various types of skin leathers used with designer handbags, they can be hand-painted with bright colors in gorgeous shades of blue, brown, light green, orange, and red. If you want a really unique design, shop online for designer luxury handbags that are 100 percent handmade in Italy. You’ll find high-quality purses with creative designs that will amaze all your friends at social gatherings.

But wait! Before clicking that online payment button, read the designer purse descriptions very carefully. Handmade purses should be made with care and with a very unique process to ensure fine quality. Examine the quality of the straps, zippers, and stitching. Also, look for interior materials such as real leather or real calf skin for the handbag’s lining. Be sure the website offers photos of the purses or bags from various perspectives so you’ll have a good idea of what you’re getting.

If you really like the elegant look and feel of designer luxury handbags, you might even want to start your own business selling these amazing bags. Some retailers will offer wholesale handbags as well so you can easily get started with your own business. It’s a great way to earn a part-time or full-time income.

Look for websites that offer fashion accessories and handbags that are made of extremely high quality. These handbags also make excellent gifts for Christmas, birthdays, Mother’s Day, or anniversaries. By shopping wisely, you’ll soon be able to adorn every outfit with your own collection of designer luxury handbags!

Handbags: How to get designer purses cheap

Ed Hardy Treasure Chest Alice Satchel Bag - Silver“I want my handbags and my shoes to be stylish but I want to make sure that they’re versatile. I travel and I have to make sure the pieces I put into my bag can go with a dress or with shorts or jeans.” ~Maria Sharapova

When it comes to fashion, I’m a “high-low” kinda girl–that is, I will buy some stuff super cheap (trendy items, for example) and I will spend a few bucks for higher quality pieces that will last longer.

As for handbags and purses, thanks to a certain holiday tradition developed by my husband’s cousin in which she gives me a designer purse each Christmas, I am sort of spoiled.

I prefer a well-made bag and often times, those are more likely to be found with designer tags on them.

Reason: While this year’s dress is next year’s rag, a quality handbag will literally look stylish for decades.

Of course, many people take one look at the cost of the better handbags and decide that these bags are simply too expensive.

However, if you think about how many times you will be using that handbag over the next ten years and then divide the price of the handbag by that number, you may be surprised to find that a good handbag is actually a better deal than most other pieces of clothing.

After all, if you buy a ten dollar shirt because it is on sale and only wear it twice, it costs you five dollars for each use. A one hundred dollar handbag that you use thirty times only costs you about three dollars for each use. Most people use a good handbag several hundred times a year.

Although designer handbags come in a range of prices, a top quality calf leather handbag can cost as much as four or five hundred dollars; and even several thousand dollars if it’s from a well-known designer. Although you may not be able to tell the supple soft calf leather bag from a less expensive bag made with cowhide by looking at the bags, you can certainly feel the difference. Calf leather is smooth and flexible.

Fendi 8BR551 Zucca B-Bag - Zucca/Light CamelIf you can’t afford a good leather  handbag, there are some other choices. The same care and craftsmanship that makes leather handbags so popular goes into the construction of Italian bags made with canvas or fabric.

Just be prepared for a fabric bag to wear out sooner than the leather handbags.

Finally, be sure you do not buy a handbag that looks like a quality  handbag at first glance, but actually turns out to be a knockoff. If the handbag you are considering is supposed to be leather, unzip it and take a look at the inside to see if you can find some uncovered edges.

Leather edges look different than those made with vinyl or other man made materials. The best way to be sure you are purchasing a quality handbag is to only purchase from reputable sources.

These are a few of my recent picks.

Cruise Season Style Guide: Plus-Size Swimwear to Make You Look Amazing

Shore Club Mohegan Plus Size Tab Front Tankini Top

It’s just about time to start taking those post-holiday cruises, and if you’re like me, you’re ready for a new swimsuit. I remember when I was plus-sized, it was so much more difficult to find the right suit for my body–I always felt like just skipping the beach or the pool.

But part of our Whole Life Fix Movement is to stop waiting until we meet our goals and start living NOW–so just forget about waiting to buy your swimsuit until you are a size 3.  Get on it now–and get on with  the business of living.

The fact is that plus size fashions have come a long way from the days of shapeless tent dresses and stretchy pants with elastic waistbands.

Now that there are more exciting choices and selections than ever, it’s easy to look and feel amazing, no matter what your size.

And when it comes to selecting plus-size swimsuits, there’s so much to consider–but

Exotic prints, stripes, solid colors, delicate prints – the sky is the limit today when choosing plus size swimwear fashions.

Fortunately online shopping brings you more selection and convenience than ever before so you can easily find that perfect swimsuit.

Tips for Buying the Most Flattering Swimsuit for Your Body Type

Here are ten tips to keep in mind when shopping for the most flattering, and comfortable swimwear styles:

1. For shorter bodies try vertical stripes, this can visually add length to your body

2. Enhance the length of your legs with a high cut thigh

3. Look for solid chest support with under wires and padding

4. For a one piece suit, pay attention to the body length. You want a comfortable fit, too short and you will find the suit digging into your shoulders

5. Look for wide shoulder straps–they provide more support and comfort

6. Dark colors such as black have a nice, slimming effect

7. For larger tummies, try a two piece tankini–they are fashionable, comfy and fun! Try the Shore Club Mohegan Plus Size Tab Front Tankini Top.

8. Look for swimsuit styles that offer extra tummy control

9. Try skirted bottoms to camouflage heavy thighs and bottoms

10. Pareo wraps and sarongs not only cover problems areas, they are also quite stylish

Two key features to look for when shopping for swimwear is size and comfort. You will want to choose a size that best fits you. If your swimsuit is a size too small, bulges will show.

If you plan on being active in your swimwear, such as participating in water sports, a one piece suit or a fitted tankini are popular choices.

Black and white polka-dots are a classic look that’s always in style–and the traditional print is back this season with a vengeance. Which of these polka-dotted plus-sized swimsuits would you wear for cruise season?

Hot Deal of the Day: Swimsuits for All

swimsuitLike this suit?

I think it’s adorable–I’d totally wear it under the right circumstances. Like on the deck of a cruise ship headed to the tropics…but anyway…I digress.

This stylish little number is called the Lavender Dots Peplum Tank Swimsuit, and it’s designed by Longitude. It even comes  in  my size–and goes all the way up through plus sizes.

That little peplum will hide a multitude of bodily sins–a c-section belly, for example, or a slightly flabby bottom–and it’ll make your waist look tiny.
