It’s no secret that I’m a fan of Oprah Winfrey. I’ve been watching her and learning from her since I was a kid. Despite the fact that some of my friends like to tease me about my affinity for the great O, I openly profess my admiration on a fairly regular basis.

I don’t love her because she is famous or because she is rich–I love her because she is different than any other celeb. I love her because I believe that she is genuine–and because I so often relate to her.

She rocks, because she believes that every one of us has the ability to create the lives we want. Because many times in the last 25 years, Oprah or one of her guests has said something that stuck with me–something that changed my life.

I relate to Oprah because, like me, she happens to be a journalist, one who is interested in helping other people to create better lives for themselves–and she’s doing it on a ginormous scale.

So, today, when I got an email from the OWN Network that offered previews of the channel’s new fall line up, I was psyched. Even though I don’t have a lot of time to watch TV, I DVR several shows from OWN and watch them when I can.

This season, I’m excited about two new shows in particular.

First, there’s Oprah’s Life Class will feature Miss Winfrey herself sharing life lessons she’s picked up over the past 25 years. Oh, also? There is an accompanying online class–for which I signed up weeks ago, of course. Life lessons from my idol? Yes please! I can’t wait to watch!

Then, there’s the new show called Visionaries: Inside the Creative Mind. This show will feature some of the most creative minds of our time–including such icons as musician will.i.am (of the Black-Eyed Peas), filmmakers Tyler Perry and James Cameron, world-renowned photographer Annie Leibovitz and more. These creative geniuses will let the audience in on their innermost thoughts and day-to-day lives. Talk about an inspirational show!

So how about you? Do you watch the OWN Network? What are your favorite shows? Tell me in the comments!
