Speak on it: Is narcissism really increasing?

Written by Angela Atkinson

As if you didn’t suspect it already, it seems that research has confirmed that narcissism is in fact increasing among people in our society today. Speak on It Is Narcissism Increasing

A study published by the Social Psychological and Personality Science journal found that college students (studied in 2010) exhibited more narcissistic tendencies than students of the same age in 1980s by more than half – and ironically (?), this is consistent with the percentage of students who are/were obese in each group.

So, our egos and our bodies are growing fatter. What’s going on? Why is narcissism becoming such a seemingly unstoppable epidemic?

Why do you think narcissism seems to be growing more common among twenty-somethings these days? Is it just as common in other generations, and we’re just more aware of it today, or is there actually an increase?

Let’s discuss it. Share your thoughts and experiences in the comments section.
