Spring is about color and fun!

Spring fashion trends for 2014 are looking fun and fabulous, but they are also a bit retro.

Half the fun of seeing the new fashion trends for the year involves comparing them to past fashion trends and the changes made to them.

Some of this year’s spring fashion trends will remind you of your younger years, but you will appreciate the added color and new ways to use these old trends.

Spring 2014 Fashion Trends: Tea-Length Skirts

Get ready for length specific skirts. Tea-length skirts are making a big comeback this year. Above the ankles and below the knees, just like tea parties from the past. No, seriously, go to a tea party–you get to wear a fun dress and drink healthy stuff. These dresses can be worn just about anywhere and you never have to worry about being under-dressed or over dressed because they are versatile enough to work for just about any occasion.

Spring 2014 Fashion Trends: Collarless Jackets and Billowy Pants

In the seventies you either wore big collars or no collars at all. Pants were simlar; either you had big pant bottoms or you didn’t have bottoms because you were wearing shorts. Collarless jackets are making a comeback this spring and billowy pants may remind us of bell bottoms, but they aren’t quite the same. These pants billow around the legs and if worn correctly, can even make you look taller and by consequence, thinner. For a taller, thinner look, go with the billowy pants with slimmer legs and a higher waist.

Spring 2014 Fashion Trends: Bomber Jacket

Over the years it has gone through many changes, including using small bits of leather together to create the bomber jacket look in a whole new way. This year the trend includes color. Look for bomber jackets that include more than one color. In some cases they might look a little more like letterman’s jackets, while other designs include a contrast collar.

Spring 2014 Fashion Trends: Crop-Tops and Sweaters

Dress for comfort, dress for style. Crop tops are a big hit this year, just as they were in the 80’s. However, thin sweaters that don’t gather are also in line, so you don’t have to forego comfort for style.

Spring 2014 Fashion Trends: Pastels are Back!

A bit of pastel is always a good spring choice, but this year exepct more than a bit of pastel. If pastels aren’t your thing, wear a pastel shirt with contrasting color to enhance your skin tone. In this way you can be trendy, but your skin won’t look washed out.
