One reason many people feel tired is that they’re actually dehydrated.
Studies show that most people don’t drink enough water throughout the day.
If you ask me, that could account for a lot of the exhaustion that leads to lack of activity and overeating.
(Plus, its a proven fact that when you don’t drink enough water, your body actually retains water–it’s sort of “afraid” to let go of what it’s got for fear you won’t replenish it. So, you appear more bloated.)
Next time you’re tired, try drinking a glass of water, and try to stay hydrated throughout the day to maintain your energy levels.
“It’s generally not a good idea to use thirst alone as a guide for when to drink,” says a Mayo clinic expert. “By the time you become thirsty, you may already be slightly dehydrated.”
Besides just being a healthier way to go, staying hydrated can actually aid in your weight loss efforts.
A 2010 study found that “obese dieters who drank two cups of water before each meal lost 5 pounds more than a group of dieters who didn’t increase their water intake,” according to Discovery News. “A year later, the water-drinkers had also kept more of the weight off.”

Tips to Get It Done
1. Drink a glass of water before every cup of coffee or other beverage you drink.
2. Have one when you wake up in the morning, before anything else.
3. Have one before each meal (it’ll help you feel full faster, too!).
4. Carry a water bottle with you and sip all day long.
5. Add lemon or decaf tea to your water if you can’t drink it plain.

My passion for professional success is renewed each day.
I am born to succeed in a professional environment. And because I know it, I am passionate about it. I know I have the elements it takes to succeed in my career.
Each morning, I naturally regain the energy to take on all of work’s challenges. I feel equipped for everything that comes my way as I move through the day’s tasks. I love the thrill of work and the feeling of accomplishment in the workplace.
I see nothing as unattainable. I utilize my strengths of organization and emotional control to make it through even the roughest tasks.
I know how easy it is to get flustered when it seems there are more responsibilities than hours in the day. I can relate to feeling overwhelmed by all that I am tasked to do. But my approach is to organize in order of priority, and then take one step at a time. I recognize that I accomplish so much more when I pace myself.
At the end of each day, I have more successes because I create a professional and organized environment to work in.
Today, I can maintain the passion needed in my profession because I am driven to succeed. I love the feeling I get when I knock my tasks off one at a time and feel reinvigorated to take on even more tomorrow.
Ask Yourself These Self-Reflection Questions:
1. Are there skills I need to sharpen in my professional life?
2. Can I teach co-workers how to be passionate about their jobs?
3. Am I driven by financial reward?
Each day, I happily receive all that I need. I am healthy in mind, body, and spirit and I know that I am loved. The people in my life are conduits for all the goodness of the universe. Health and love shower down on me daily from all sources.
Sometimes, blessings come my way from unexpected directions. I am always open to receive these, however they may arrive.
I may be hoping to hear a message of love from someone in particular, but instead it comes from another person. Regardless, I receive all forms of love with deep gratitude.
I feel stronger inside each day. I know that my own health and happiness are assured. Daily, I see them manifest in my life. I take this as evidence of a positive force working in my life, whether I attribute that to a higher power or just to my own will.
However, sometimes in the hurry of life, forgetting to pay attention to my blessings can seem all too easy. Therefore, I cultivate my awareness. This is how I know that health and love shower down on me daily.
Today, I make time to contemplate all the blessings in my life. I am thankful for all of the ways that health and love manifest for me. And I commit to paying close attention all the days of my life so that I can continue to live with a grateful heart.

I’m not one of these people who blindly follows celebrities just because everyone else does, and I’m not generally one to even think too hard about anything a celebrity does. I’m not into the reality shows (with the exception of American Idol, of course), and in general, I’m not even a big TV watcher. I’m busy, you know. 🙂
Prepare yourselves, I’m about to get a little dramatic here*, if you hadn’t already guessed. 🙂
The drama begins…
The rare celeb who causes me to behave in a typical fan-like manner should feel honored (you know, in a world where a celeb could possibly know each of his or her fans personally). At the very least, I consider these few special celebs worthy of note.
If you’ve been following this site, you know very well that Oprah is one of those few who make the cut in my book.
So yesterday morning, as I was checking the day’s news while getting ready to start my workday, I saw something that made my heart jump.
She was here.
In St. Louis. The one and only Oprah Winfrey. Just miles from my home.
I couldn’t believe it.
One of my favorite idols was in my town, and as I feverishly began to figure out how I was going to get everything on my ‘to-do’ list done and sneak myself downtown to see her in a rare local appearance, I clicked on the “get tickets here” kind of button with excitement and anticipation…I was really, truly going to see OPRAH WINFREY!
And, they had recently added a second show. I couldn’t believe the luck.
But then it happened. I saw two of the most awful words a fan could see.
Sold Out.
Oh, the angst!
Ok, so it wasn’t Oprah‘s fault that I was so busy that I missed her invitation. I’m sure she sent it, because I’m on nearly every mailing list the woman has–and no, I’m not kidding. I love me some Oprah, as I may have mentioned before.
And logically, I knew that I couldn’t expect to get into any Oprah-bearing event at the last moment. But logic didn’t make it any better.
On the plus side, at least I could watch it on TV. (It’s waiting for me on my DVR, but I could also watch it online, if I want.)
I have been a fan of Oprah’s Lifeclasses since they were first announced, and I am super excited to see this life-changing show continuing to grow. If you’re not watching it already, I suggest you check it out. If you’ve got cable, you can get the episodes on demand in many areas, along with many other enlightening OWN shows.
My heart will go on, I guess, but I gotta say it.
Hey Oprah, next time you’re in town, let’s do lunch. 🙂 Or, I’ll sit in a crowded audience and soak up your awesomeness. Either way. Just lemme know. 🙂
*Disclaimer: While I was genuinely disappointed that I missed the opportunity to see my favorite Oprah, this post is mostly written tongue-in-cheek. But Oprah, if you’re reading this, I’d really be up for that lunch thing. Just saying.
